Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using LibriShelf ("the App"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Use License

LibriShelf grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for managing your personal book library. This license is provided free of charge and is subject to your compliance with these Terms of Service.

You may:

• Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
• Create backups of your personal library data
• Customize the App's appearance using provided features

You may not:

• Sell, rent, lease, or sublicense the App
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose

Local-First Application

LibriShelf is a local-first application designed with your privacy in mind. All your data, including your book library, reading progress, notes, and preferences, are stored locally on your device.

We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal library data to any external servers unless you explicitly choose to use specific features such as:

• ISBN lookup (queries external book databases with only the ISBN number)
• Backup export (you control where your data is saved)

User Responsibilities

As a user of LibriShelf, you are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your device
• Backing up your library data using the provided backup features
• Ensuring the accuracy of information you enter into the App
• Complying with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations
• Respecting intellectual property rights when adding book information

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use LibriShelf to:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
• Share or distribute copyrighted content without proper authorization
• Transmit any harmful code, viruses, or malicious software
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's systems or data
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App

Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services for specific features:

• Google Books API: Used for ISBN lookup to retrieve book information. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
• Cloud Storage: If you choose to save backups to cloud storage, your data handling is subject to your chosen provider's terms and policies

We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third-party services.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by LibriShelf and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

Book information, covers, and metadata displayed in the App may be sourced from third-party databases and are subject to their respective copyrights and terms of use.

Disclaimer of Warranties

LibriShelf is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Implied warranties of merchantability
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement
• That the App will be error-free or uninterrupted
• That defects will be corrected
• That the App is free of viruses or harmful components

Your use of the App is at your sole risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LibriShelf and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use or inability to use the App
• Any unauthorized access to or use of your data
• Any bugs, viruses, or harmful code transmitted through the App
• Any errors or omissions in content or book information
• Loss of data due to device failure or user error

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LibriShelf and its developers from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt arising from:

• Your use of the App
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights

Data Loss

While we strive to provide a reliable App, we strongly recommend regularly backing up your library data using the App's export features. LibriShelf is not responsible for any data loss that may occur due to:

• Device failure or malfunction
• Operating system updates
• App uninstallation
• User error
• Any other unforeseen circumstances

Modifications to the App

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the App.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time without prior notice. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will indicate when changes were made. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Severability

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and LibriShelf regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
